How To Choose Your Personal Scent

Filed under: Great Technology Tips — admin at 7:21 am on Saturday, August 16, 2008

There is nothing like wearing a particular fragrance as a signature. Long after you have left the room your fragrance can linger. A particular fragrance can make quite an impact, on both sexes.

Most perfumes are made by combining three scents called notes. The top note lasts the least amount of time, the middle note lasts longer and the base note lasts around 24 hours. Generally when you first smell a perfume you will notice the top note. A few hours later you will smell the middle note.

There are seven fragrance types used in the creation of perfumes, they are woodsy or mossy, oriental, fruity, single floral, floral bouquet, spicy and what are called modern blends.

Today custom blended fragrances are becoming very popular. A personal perfumer will determine your basic preference, floral or citrus, spicy or outdoorsy. The perfumer will make selections based on your preference and then will “waft” these essential fragrance oils under your nose. They generally have you pick four favorites from that group. From that group of four you will pick a favorite one to be used as a base note.

Other perfumers will blend perfumes based on astrological signs and personality traits. Some perfumers have gone so far as to conduct tests based on color preference. Color psychologists say that colors supply information about the kind of fragrances we like. Events and seasons can also influence what fragrance a woman chooses to wear.

Your body chemistry will influence how any perfume will smell. It’s known that over time the same perfume will change on a woman due to changes in body chemistry.

If you do wear a scent make sure that you use the same scent body wash and lotion. You don’t want to clash. If you want a strong scent wear a perfume. If you want a lighter scent consider a spritzer or using a lotion containing the scent you like.

Bad Credit Refinance 101: The Hows and The Whats

Filed under: Great Technology Tips — admin at 3:52 am on Saturday, August 16, 2008

If you are like every other home owner or general consumer out there, you need to pay for your expenses somehow. If you have bad credit, you might be limited in your options as to what you can do (or so you think…keep reading!). This can be especially annoying to homeowners who want to refinance their mortgages to take advantage of low interest rates but have had a few debt defaults in recent years. The story is always the same: you see these low 5% interest rates advertised on TV and you know that you deserve to refinance your home loan with this low interest rate. However, once you call, you find out that in fact you can refinance your mortgage, but it will cost you a lot more than you think. “What?” you think to yourself… “Why does it cost more for me to refinance my mortgage than I thought it would?” The reason is simple: bad credit. Refinancing with bad credit can be difficult. You might have filed for bankruptcy or racked up a whole bunch of debt which you just couldn’t pay off. Debt defaults take a long time to get off your credit report (if they ever come off!) and they can affect every lender to whom you owe money.

This is because these days, lenders are very clued in to borrowers credit scores and credit history. All your credit information is stored in a giant database somewhere and if your credit is bad for some reason, it’s going to show up on a mortgage refinancing report. And banks probably don’t mind seeing a few defaults and bad credit accounts here and there. More fees for them! Your bank might like to see one of their client’s earmarked as ‘bad credit’…they can raise your interest rate and you can’t do anything about it.

These days, having bad credit isn’t necessarily as bad as it should be. This is because banks are business entities too. Banks borrow money just like people do. In times of relatively low interest rates, banks need to make money by originating loans. And, a lot of new ’subprime’ lenders have opened up shop in recent years and are specifically in the business of lending to people with bad credit. They are looking to refinance bad credit accounts like yours and collect massive fees on the backend.

Many people with bad credit history look to take out loans from friends and family. While this may be a fairly good short term solution, it might not be the smartest of long term business moves. What you need to do is refinance your mortgage and lower your payment. The best thing you can do for yourself is to shop around. I’d be willing to bet that some banks will give you a better deal on a mortgage refinancing than you think they would. Find out who’s got the best rate to get the best deal on your loan. This might take a little legwork, but it could pay off. Finding that right bank to give you the right deal on your refinancing will be worth the effort.

Mortgage can last a lifetime and that extra 1% can add up to literally thousands of dollars over the years. I have friends that are in their 70s and still paying off their home loans. It’ll pay off in the long run to make sure you find the best deal possible. Don’t let bad credit stop you from refinancing your home.

If Jesus Was a Jew; What is With the Mexican Name?

Filed under: Great Technology Tips — admin at 12:57 am on Friday, August 15, 2008

All biblical scholars know that Jesus Christ was Jewish, however I don’t believe this at all because if Jesus was a Jew then why does he have the Mexican name? Jesus pronounced; “Hey Zues” sells more like a Greek god to me. But if Mexicans are a combination of the old Aztec civilization and Mesopotamian Indians mixed with the Spaniards who came later then I just do not see the correlation that Jesus was a Jew at all.

In fact just the other day I was at Burger King and I met Jesus, he was the assistant manager there and although he did not speak very good English I just knew it was him because he had a name tag is that Jesus right on it.

So you see, now I believe in Jesus because I met him and although his crew makes a very sloppy hamburger and does not speak very good English he seems like an okay guy to me. I am not sure if Jesus was an illegal alien, but he might be.

I just do not see why all these people are following a guy that works at Burger King, whose crew did not understand what I was saying when I asked them to hold the catsup and instead put extra catsup on.

It appears to me that this whole Jesus thing is a miscommunication and very bad interpretation. You know I really don’t think Jesus is listening to anybody now that I finally met him, it makes no sense to give your life to Jesus if he can’t even get your order right. Consider this in 2006.

The Importance Of Asbestos Abatement Equipment

Filed under: Great Technology Tips — admin at 10:34 am on Monday, August 11, 2008

More and more people are looking for asbestos abatement equipment for conducting asbestos abatement at their homes. Asbestos abatement is a specialized job and you must use the services of accredited asbestos abatement professionals for removing asbestos materials.

Government has made it mandatory that asbestos abatement of public building, school and non-single family residential apartments should be done only by recognized abatement professional. However, there is no such provision for single-family residential buildings. You can do the asbestos abetment and removal of your single family home with the help of simple asbestos abatement equipment. However, you have to ensure that you follow safe asbestos removal and disposal procedure.

Asbestos Abatement Equipment For Flooring Removal

Use the following asbestos abatement equipment while removing floorings.

Individual Safety Gear (ISG) - Includes respirator, disposable work suits, gloves, shoes and goggles.

Polythene sheets, minimum 4mm thick -For sealing the work area, covering the doorways, heating and ventilation ducts, and wrapping waste.

Duct tape - Used for fixing polythene on surfaces and sealing vents, sealing disposable bags, boxes etc.

Disposable bags - Heavy sacks or asbestos disposal bags with asbestos warnings visible on them.

Boxes - For storing the removed flooring. Cover them with polythene or use waste disposal bags.

Sprayer with detergent water - Scrub and clean the floor with a mixture of one cup of detergent (liquid dishwasher is the best) dissolved in five gallons of water.

Abrasive Scrub pads - Used for scrubbing the floors, removing linoleum pieces, backings and adhesives etc.

Disposable Towels/Mops - Used for cleaning the work area, asbestos abatement equipment and mopping up excess water. Use them only once to prevent contamination of non-work areas.

Utility Knife - Used for cutting polythene sheets.

Metal Putty Knife - For removing flooring from the floors.

Sealing Of Work Area With Asbestos Abatement Equipment

Seal off the work area using the asbestos abatement equipment before starting the work. Thus any asbestos fibers released during the work will remain confined to the work area. Turn off the heating and the air conditioner. Cover all the ducts, vents and openings with polythene and seal off with duct tape. Remove all movable objects so that they are not contaminated. This will reduce the time spent on cleaning them later on. Cover all fixed objects with polythene sheets and seal with tape.

Stick polythene using the duct tape on all doorways, windows and other openings. Have only one entry to the work area. Cover that doorway also with a polythene flap with one vertical slit for entry and exit. This will prevent contaminated air from circulating out of the work area.

Persuading People to Buy - Copywriting Questions Answered for a Business Owner - Part 3

Filed under: Great Technology Tips — admin at 8:59 am on Monday, August 11, 2008

In a recent consultation a client, who is a business owner, asked questions about writing compelling letters and adverts.

In this third article he expressed concern about the effectiveness of long Sales Letters …

QuestionAlthough I’ve been writing these types of letter (long, direct response letters) for some time now I’m always being told “People don’t have time to read long letters.”

Even my engineers say “they don’t read these long letters, you know!” although it does make you wonder how they know about my offer. Even so, I sometimes worry about long letters and ‘people not having time to read them’. How do you get over this concern?

Answer My first point is - are you getting results?

“Yes, we are increasing sales and getting a better quality of response as well.”

It just shows that long letters do work, but let’s look at how they work for you…

1 - Only write to people who have expressed, or you have strong reasons to believe, are interested in what you have to offer. Talking about your prospect and something that interests them is always fascinating to your reader. If it is relevant they read your letter - certainly enough to make a decision.

2 - Your most interesting, though-provoking, benefit laden, action compelling points must be on your first page. Your challenge is to get your reader on to the 2nd page. Check your letter - is your exciting offer or compelling argument buried on page 3 or 4? If so, your reader won’t reach it. Re-structure your letter so it is on the first page.

3 - Use your sub-heads to re-capture the interest of the person skimming through. Remember your prime reason for writing is to get your prospect to respond to your offer. If he (or she) does that without reading the whole of the letter - it doesn’t matter.

Some people skim, pick up the essence from your sub-heads, read snatches they think are relevant and decide. Others read every, single word. Your letter can satisfy both styles of reader.

I recently had a conversation with a new client who said, “I received your letter, it was very long, to be honest I only skimmed through and got the gist of what you’re offering” - as I pointed out it had served its purpose because he took action based on what he did read.

4 - Make absolutely sure the ‘instructions’ on how to respond are clear and easy to find - even for the skimmer. Even a subhead as simple as ‘What to Do Now’ or ‘How to get Your…’ is enough to draw them in at the right point.

Be careful about what you ‘instruct’ him to do. Remember people don’t like forms - telling him to “fill in the form” may be regarded as hard-work by some. Make it easy - ask him to “pop your details onto the enclosed request, slip it into the envelope supplied and post today.”

At the Boat Ramp

Filed under: Great Technology Tips — admin at 3:02 pm on Sunday, August 10, 2008

The weekend is finally here. You’re all loaded up (well, the car is loaded, you’re not) and it’s time to head for the lake. You get to the ramp and take your place in line. When your turn comes, you back and fill until the trailer is absolutely straight on the ramp. You back up to the water’s edge, untie the cover and start transferring fishing and ski gear plus several coolers to the boat. You back into the water and launch the boat, then pull out to park while your wife and kids hold the boat. You come strolling back, jump in the boat and take off. You’re happy - on the water in only 45 minutes.

Then your wife tells you that unless you find another lake to go to, she’s staying home. While you were parking the car, all sorts of people hollered at her and the kids. They were really upset and made the kids cry. And the language they used!

I hate to tell you this, but they were right. At least partly right. I certainly don’t advocate abusing women and children, and the ones who unloaded on her but couldn’t face you are cowards. They should have unloaded on you! You were about as inconsiderate as you could be without trying.

Next time you go to the ramp, stop in the parking area first. That’s the place to take off the cover and load the boat. When you get onto the ramp, the only point of attachment should be the winch strap or cable.

Realize that almost nobody outside of a fishing show backs a trailer on a straight line all the way. The important thing is to end up straight enough to launch when you reach the bottom of the ramp. Try putting your hand on the bottom of the steering wheel. Then simply move your hand in the direction you want the rear of the trailer to go. You may be making many small corrections, but you’re making quick progress down the ramp.

Now that the boat is in the water, clear the area. If the ramp provides a dock next to ramp, have your partner wait for you with the boat there. If there is no dock, hold the boat off to the side so someone else can launch.

When you’re done for the day, just reverse these steps. You should be able to get in and out in under 10 minutes. You’ll be happier and so will your wife.

Oh, and if you get the urge to holler at some poor schnook doing what you used to do - don’t. Give them this article and help them on the road to better boating. And have a little patience with beginners, and those of us who get told “no, your other left.”

[note: I know that many women will read this, and some will resent the gender bias in some of my writing. This is not a slight, I just find the he/she thing awkward and making sure the references are balanced resembles work. I was cursed with a Y chromosome, so that’s the point of view I write from.]

New Technology in Diamond Properties Analysis

Filed under: Great Technology Tips — admin at 12:04 pm on Thursday, August 7, 2008

Isee2 company has developed a technology that works as a retail selling aid allowing buyers to measure the beauty of a diamond beyond its classically graded properties.

A diamond’s beauty is its selling quality and can differentiate between diamonds graded alike is that something that makes an exceptional diamond outshine the others. Isee2 technology can make such detail analysis.

How it works

The technology is based on a software that analyzes the diamond with the help of two devices: one measuring the cut quality aspects while the other is a high power magnifier used to read the ionized inscription on the table of every Isee2 diamond.

The diamond is scanned by a camera that sends the images to a computer which processes 48 different lighting positions during its calculations. Thus are made objective evaluations of: the amount of light returned from the diamond , the degree of contrast between the 57 facets and the quality of the cut (brilliance, scintillation and symmetry).

Diamonds’ appearance differ when observed in diffuse/ambient light conditions. Strong light conditions emphasize fire and scintillation whereas in softer light the optical symmetry is emphasised more.

Unlike BrillianceScope, Isee2 performs its analysis in diffuse light conditions. Diamonds that perform well on Isee2 analysis will look smashing in softer light conditions. If the diamond is well graded on the BrillianceScope it will look stunning in direct light conditions.

This technology facilitates the choice decision by permitting buyers to be convinced of the qualities of a stone all by themselves without the help of a layman.

Army Ranger Reveals How to Control Corporate Stress

Filed under: Great Technology Tips — admin at 8:00 am on Wednesday, August 6, 2008

“Adopting the right attitude can convert a negative stress into a positive one.” Hans Selye - the “father of stress” and founder of the Canadian Institute of Stress.

Every worker in America has heard of individual stress management techniques — relaxation, meditation, and visualization — good tools for getting through stressful periods. But if they’re so great, why do we still have all this stress?

We’re going to need something more than mood music, aroma therapy, and comfortable lighting to get beyond the stress of today’s workplace. We’re going to need management’s attention because stress control is a leadership responsibility.

The US Army has plenty of experience with stress control as front line leaders strive to keep GIs on the job. Traditionally, the US Army has lost as many soldiers to stress as to enemy gunfire - a ratio of 1:1. The most elite units trim this loss to a ratio of 1:10 - one stress loss for every 10 wounded soldiers.

Regardless of the ratio, every front line soldier is critical to winning the battle. Commanders know that controlling stress under fire is as critical as food, fuel, and ammunition. The same holds true for corporate America. You can’t get high productivity with high absenteeism.

Combat leaders watch for stress symptoms and take action. They are taught to “Know your troops, and be alert for any sudden, persistent or progressive change in their behavior that threatens the functioning and safety of your unit.” (FM 6-22.5, “Combat Stress”)

Specifically, front line leaders are taught to help overstressed soldiers in six ways:

Army Step 1. Reassurance

Corporate Solution: Some people need contact with the boss to assure them that things will turn out ok. Spend time to find out worker’s concerns. Ask for their observations on recent events. Find out what they think about upcoming changes. Ask for their advice — they’ll admire you for demonstrating your trust. Simple remarks showing your confidence in workers can make a big difference.

Army Step 2. Rest and sleep

Corporate Solution: Its worth your while to offer some additional time off if stress is interfering with performance. Consider giving additional breaks to relieve mental and physical fatigue. Improved productivity will more than pay for the unstructured breaks that over-stressed workers will take on their own.

Find out what’s needed to help employees get more rest at home. Bring in experts to teach the importance of rest and relaxation. Take a look at that overtime schedule; the extra work might be taking its toll in absenteeism, illness, accidents, and attitudes.

Army Step 3. Food and fluids

Corporate Solutions: You can influence how people eat by getting experts to teach the importance of proper nutrition. Make sure nutritious snacks are available alongside the junk food in vending machines. Provide healthy snacks mid-morning and mid-afternoon when energy levels begin to fade. The investment will pay off in better performance. Reward good health.

Army Step 4. Hygiene - bathing, clean uniforms

Corporate Solution: A scheduled break to get cleaned up before lunch or after a hard day of dirty work can pay off in a big way. Make sure everyone has the right protective clothing for the job. Extreme temperature and dampness create stress that can be easily relieved by proper apparel and hygiene breaks. And, as surprising as it might seem, some employees do not have running water at home.

Not all of them have hot water. Not all of them have washing machines. Make these things available at your workplace or find alternatives. One-time arrangements can go a long way in helping stressed workers get their emotions under control and get their productivity up where it belongs.

Army Step 5. Discussion - A chance to talk about what happened, to tell war stories

Corporate Solution: Everyone benefits from a chance to tell about what went on. Some people are more sensitive than others. There is often great value in routine meetings to kick off the shift or explain the day’s activities. Scheduling time before or after meetings to talk about what happened can relieve stress for those in the spot light. Team discussions after sales calls can help stressed workers understand the results and focus on what needs to be done.

In times of high stress, some people need to talk about what happened to others around them - family members, community tragedies. Managers can handle the day-to-day conversations and experts are available to address major stressors. Help workers tell their “war stories.”

Army Step 6. Restoring identity and confidence with useful work

Corporate Solution: As soon as possible, over stressed workers need to return to their positions of responsibility. They need to see that (a) they can perform well (b) that management recognizes their efforts (c) and that life goes on. Emphasize small accomplishments. Find reasons to reward each person for their achievements.

GIs usually return to their jobs after a short rest, a hot shower, a chat with their supervisor, and a warm meal. Your people can do the same. Most of the time, they can continue in their jobs if you pay attention to their basic needs.

Watch for high stress period in your business cycle and schedule time to work on these six steps. You’ll improve productivity and the workplace environment by taking care of your people. Your investment of time and money will be rewarded in better performance and lower costs.

Work with your human resources experts to assist those who are beyond your ability. Let the professionals take care of the severe cases while you take care of your other employees and get the work done.

Improving Bathrooms In Your Home

Filed under: Great Technology Tips — admin at 9:28 pm on Monday, August 4, 2008

One of the best ways to increase the value of your home is to improve the bathrooms. Here’s a primer on things to consider.

Sinks

Villeroy and Boch makes a sink that mimics a boulder worn into a bowl by water flowing into it. It can be quite handsome in a minimalist home or a rustic one. You can see it and others at villeroy-boch.com.

Concrete Jungle makes some dramatically simple concrete sinks and vanities that surprisingly look very modern, or very farm-house. Check concretejungleonline.com if that idea appeals.

Walker Zanger’s designs include a perfectly simple sink in white marble for a dressier look. They also have a sturdy dark wooden “table” base that gives it dramatic contrast. You might enjoy visiting walkerzanger.com for more ideas.

Showers

A shower separate from the tub is one of today’s favorite luxuries. Some of them have been designed to feel like rain (at least part of the time). Dornbracht has one called “RainSky M” which can be checked out at dornbracht.com.

Large frameless (or nearly frameless) glass shower enclosures are showing up in more and more homes. MAAX makes a line of showers with features like overhead “waterfall” systems, hand held shower heads, and body sprays coming from the side that work well in a frameless enclosure.

I helped a family sell a home with a very interesting master bath not too long ago. It had a shower much like the one described above, but it was designed for two people. It looked like a glass room “floating” inside the large bathroom.

Tubs

As for tubs. Well. Would you believe a tub in an arched tile niche with a gas log fireplace at its foot? Believe it. Can you imagine a nice long soak while listening to flute music and sipping chilled champagne? (James Bond can keep his martini.)

Then there are the Acryline tubs which employ warm air hydro-massage to counter the effects of the daily rush-grab-dash of life. Explore their therapy theory at acrylineusa.com.

You get the idea. Updated means simple. It does not mean blah. It does mean coddled. It can give you and your family pleasure and comfort while you live in your home. It can increase your home’s sale value. You’ll be tempted, but don’ overbuild your neighborhood with the Taj Mahal of bathrooms if you want to be pleased with the result when you sell.

Your International Real Estate Market Place: Made Easy by The Property Index Online Company

Filed under: Regional Tips — admin at 3:26 am on Saturday, August 2, 2008

Check out Property Index for help with overseas property investment!

Despite the fact that the Property Index online service is actually a new kid on the block house, they were registered in March 2007, they have quick gained in reputation. On closer scrutiny, they are a very hassle free house focused on proposing guidance to any person who is expecting to sell, buy etc. real property across the world. Their agreement: to be of help to you to hit upon smack what’s looked for quickly plus, even better, sans pain. Real estate is everwhere at present, probably the most fashionable area being real estate on the market in France. It should be no big challenge to write up the ripping real property available for sale in France, one motivation for selecting realty here being a combination of the houses and apartments for sale and the chance to live between this spirited people.

It is one of the most sought after areas at present, and in view of the lovely landscape and the climate surrounding you, how could you be wrong. Real estate in France is steeped in history, this realm of the world has been and is still home to a number of cultures. Only one generation ago there’d be merely a tiny number of British people looking for real property in France. Ask any one person who has relocated to France and they’ll tell you the same thing. Quite a few people would descry it as a fleeting vogue and others descry it as a almost a fetish. The people that will move to this area may range from young urban couples who are looking for a bit of a new life perspective to retirees planning on relaxation and enjoyment.

Note that there can be unmanageables when attempting to acquire real property abroad — you’ll have to cover dozens of actions to ponder when brainstorming, touring or finalising. If you miss out on one single action it is liable to provoke impassable unmanageables and, more importantly, monetary loss. Naturally, as can be anticipated with this favored region, real property might well be costly in this location and that is clearly due to the high buyer demand. In spite of this the property buyer is patently spoilt in terms of choice in such a part of the world blessed by vivacious topography and good scenery. It’s got the lot a patron could ever fancy and plenty more.
