How To Use Online Auctions As Traffic Generators

Filed under: House Of Traffic — admin at 7:59 am on Monday, June 8, 2009

There are thousands of online auctions on the internet.
People love them because they can usually find great
bargains. If you have an online business, you can use
them to increase traffic to your web site.

You could create an electronic book or report that
relates to your online business, then auction it off at an
online auction. You could increase traffic to your web
site by placing an ad for your web site in the electronic
publication. Some online auctions will even allow you
to link directly to your web site.

Electronic publications won’t cost you anything to ship.
You could send them via e-mail or allow people to
download the electronic publication from your web site.
You can also auction them off for a lower price. When
they visit your web site you could offer them a higher
priced product.

You could also get traffic from people who don’t bid
or don’t get the winning bid. You could direct them
to your web site to download and read a free sample
of the ebook or report before they bid. If they want
more detailed information about the ebook or report,
you could also direct them to your web site.

You can also get traffic to your web site by auctioning
a physical product. Print your web site advertisement
on a flyer or brochure then insert it into each product
package you ship.

Before you start auctioning any product at an online
auction, read the terms and conditions. Some auctions
may not allow the auctioning of electronic products or
directly linking to your web site where you have other
products for sale.

Using Targeted Web Site Traffic to Skyrocket Your Sales

Filed under: House Of Traffic — admin at 6:37 am on Monday, June 8, 2009

Targeted web site traffic is essential to making sales through
your website and converting website visitors to buyers. The
purpose of targeted web site traffic is not just to bring traffic
to your website, but to bring qualified website visitors, meaning
visitors that are interested in what you have to offer and are
ready to buy. All the website traffic in the world doesn’t make
one little bit of difference unless those website visitors buy
your products or services, or click on the advertisements that
generate revenue for your website.

Many people get caught up in the concept of driving traffic to
their website without giving adequate attention to whether or not
it is targeted web site traffic. The number of hits to the site
is important, of course, but not nearly as important as the
conversion rate. The conversion rate, by the way, is the
percentage of website visitors that actually buy or otherwise
generate revenue for your business.

To calculate your conversion rate, you divide your total number
of unique visitors per month by your total number of sales. A
simple example for instance - if you have 1,000 unique visitors
to your website and from those visitors you make a total of 100
sales, your conversion rate is 10 - meaning, for every 10
visitors you make one sale. Is that a good conversion rate? Well,
it depends. If you are paying 20 cents per click through a pay-
per-click campaign, 1,000 visitors would cost you $200 in
advertising fees. If your product price or average sale is
$39.00, your revenue from the 100 sales would be $3,900 - not
bad.

If you find that your conversion rate is not satisfactory, you
likely have one of two problems, or maybe both. First, the
traffic coming to your website may not be targeted web site
traffic. Second, your sales copy may be inadequate in terms of
appealing to the visitor and closing the sale. At any rate, if
the conversion rate is not satisfactory, you need to make
adjustments to your advertising campaign and perhaps to the
website itself to ensure that the website is attracted targeted
web site traffic and the sales copy closes the sale.

Other than lack of targeted web site traffic or insufficient
sales copy, there are a few factors that can drive traffic away
thus hindering your conversion rate. These may include problems
with the site itself, terms that visitors don’t like, complexity,
or lack of confidence. If the pages of your website are slow
loading or if there are broken links, visitors may get frustrated
and leave the site.

If your payment terms and ecommerce solutions are not user-
friendly, you may lose sales. If placing an order is not simple
or if the product or service presentations make it difficult for
a visitor to understand the benefits of the product or service or
if they don’t see the value in the product or service, they will
likely leave the site. Finally, if you fail to establish your
credibility or if your automated payment solution doesn’t appear
to be secure, you will likely drive traffic away from your site,
even if it is targeted web site traffic.

So, the trick to increasing your sales is multi-faceted. For a
website that is intended to make sales and generate revenue,
attention should be given to the following factors:

1. Bringing targeted web site traffic to the site.

2. Ensuring that your website loads quickly, is easy to navigate,
and has no broken links.

3. Using sales copy that attracts attention, prompts interest,
creates desire, instills confidence, and closes the sale.

4. Providing ecommerce solutions and payment terms that are
appealing to the masses and are easy to use.

5. Enhancing buyer confidence through the use of guarantees, good
privacy policies and practices, and secure order processing
procedures.

Drive Swarms Of Traffic To Your Site

Filed under: House Of Traffic — admin at 5:56 am on Monday, June 8, 2009

Successful affiliates know that, in order to make serious money as affiliates, they need to play “the numbers game.” Here’s what we mean:

Between 1% and 20% of the people who visit your web site will click through your affiliate link. (The range is wide because it all depends on how targeted your traffic is and how good the affiliate link, banner ad, text link, or other promotional tool you’re using is.)

Out of every 200 people who actually click through your affiliate link (not just visit your site, but actually click on your affiliate link), only 1 to 2 will buy.

What does this mean? The bottom line is that in order to make one affiliate sale, you’ll need to attract at least 500 people to your web site.

Now, we’re not telling this to scare you — after all, there are plenty of IMC affiliates just like you who easily drive more traffic than this to their sites each and every month. We just want you to be aware that it takes a bit of work.

So how do you go about driving more people to your site?

There are a number of strategies that super affiliates use to keep visitors coming:

Search engine optimization

Pay-per-click advertising

Discussion group contributions

E-mail marketing

Classified ads

How to Get More Traffic Than You Can Use

Filed under: House Of Traffic — admin at 5:36 am on Friday, June 5, 2009

Traffic-generation is a hot topic for marketers. In particular, “free traffic” seems to be the desire of most. But many sources of “free” traffic are not really freethey take your time, which can often be more valuable than spending a few dollars on your marketing.

The best idea is to combine the better sources of free traffic with some paid advertising. I propose three methods that will boost your traffic. If you remain dedicated to these three methods of advertising, you will get all the traffic you need. These sources are: 1) Writing and distributing articles; 2) Contributing to forums; and 3) Writing and buying ezine ads.

1. Writing and distributing articles

This is my favourite way of driving traffic to my sites. Articles have the ability to become viral, and that can be a huge plus for you, and a great reason to write articles. Focus on creating a 300 word article related to the theme of your site or business. Include a resource box at the end of your article that features a link back to your site. Then, distribute your article to article distribution sites (like EzineArticles.com) and email groups (like http://groups.yahoo.com/group/business_articles). You will see traffic from this method.

2. Contributing to forums

The key word here is “contributing.” Recently, too many good forums have been besieged by “marketers” posting ads. This is considered to be forum spam, and is not in good taste. Instead, visit forums, read posts, and when you have a good, well-thought-out question or reply, post it to the forum. This type of question or reply allows you to build credibility in that forum, and will earn interest in your business from other readers. Most forums allow you to post a link at the end of your post, or in a signature file, and you can promote your business there. As you build credibility, you will build traffic.

3. Buying ezine ads

This is a paid method of advertising, but it works, because it is the most targeted of these approaches. Write a concise ad for your business, and link to either a lead-capture page or directly to your autoresponder. Then, begin contacting ezines to place your ad. (Do a search for “ezine directories,” and you will find enough lists to keep you busy.) When you contact an ezine, look for rates for both classified ads and solo ads. The advantage to a solo ad is that your ad goes out by itself in a separate email, but they can be more expensive. Because these ads are targeted (you should NOT advertise in an unrelated ezine), you will definitely see traffic, but you will need to track your results to see which ezines bring you the most and best traffic.

These three sources of traffic will keep you busy and will bring you all the traffic you need.

Link Building Strategies

Filed under: House Of Traffic — admin at 5:14 am on Wednesday, September 24, 2008

Well, an effective link building strategy is not building some 50-100 back links with sites with ‘X’ PR. It is more of getting links from the informative websites that is visited often by the people who could be your future customers. In broad sense the websites related to your focus industry.

Link popularity refers to the number of links pointing to and from related sites and is an extremely important method of improving your site’s relevancy in search engines.

There are three types of links that will increase the link popularity of your site; internal, incoming and, to a lesser extent, outgoing links.

Let’s take a look at each one in more detail.

Internal links

Internal links are amount of links to and from pages in a site. Cross-linking your important related pages is recommended for a better search engine visibility. This assists search engine spiders to find and index your most key pages faster, particularly if some pages are hidden deep within your site.

Site maps

Site maps or sitemap are visual models of your site’s content that enables users to find exact content or page on your website. Site maps are like interactive table of contents, with links leading to most or all the pages on your website. Site maps are organized hierarchically, breaking down the site’s information into progressively more specific subject areas.

Incoming links

Incoming link popularity refers to links pointing to a site from other related sites. In addition, there are two types of incoming links:

1. Linking from your own sites

Crass linking as we discussed above is very much recommended for a better crawl of your site by spiders. You must select keywords that describe the site you’re linking to. You have to do this because some of the major search engines, such as Google, place a great importance on the text used within, and close to, links.

2. Linking through other sites

There are two ways of finding sites to link to yours. The best way to get other sites to link to yours is to ask them politely. And the best way to find likely candidates is to ask web sites that link to your competition.
To find out which sites are linking to your a particular competitor, visit a search engine such as Google and enter, “link:” followed by the competitors domain name (with and without “www”).

For example:

Link:google.com

link:www.yahoo.com

To check the link popularity of your own sites, simply use your own domain name.

Once you got the list of related sites, add a link to these on your site. Follow it by sending an email to each web site owner acquainting them that you have linked to their website and request them for a link back to your site.

Another important way to find list of sites that accept site submissions. To find such sites, visit a search engine, such as Google, and search for:
“add url” “your keywords”

Quotation marks are must as it ensures the search engine only return pages with the exact search phrases you search for. Also try replacing, “add url” with one of the following sets of search phrases:

add site, add link, submit url, submit site, submit link

Outgoing links

Outgoing links refers to links pointing to other related sites from your site. Search engine spiders will crawl your site’s outgoing links and determine that the content of the sites you link to are related to the content of your own site.

Link keywords

It is important to name your internal and outgoing links carefully. Since keywords play a major part in determining the relevancy of a Web page, it is essential that they are also included in link text.

Link quality

The quality of the links is just as important, if not more, than the number of links to your site. The types of sites you should concentrate on getting links from include major search engines (Google.com), popular search portals (MSN.com), web directories (Yahoo.com and Open Directory Project - dmoz.org), high trafficked sites (eBay.com and Amazon.com), news sites (CNN.com), and sites related to your site’s theme.

The most important link building strategies includes:

Marketplace understanding

First try to understand your marketplace. Make a list of all the market sectors you service, ranking them in terms of their importance. Choose a minimum of 3-4 niches and make a list of 250 websites under each niches. Go for link exchange only after this list is complete.

Content is king…

Content is what your potential customers will look for. It is content that will give your search engine rankings and would also help in getting links. There is no substitute for a good content, so unavoidable.

Content and proper optimization

Make sure the contents on your website is optimized properly with proper focus on keywords and nice heading, title and description. If you lack time then better hire someone to do the same.

online press releases

Issuing online press releases is more of a one-to-many approach. You submit your release to a newswire and they distribute your news to thousands of journalists and editors on their database. Such releases can be picked up and covered by both national and local media and are certainly worth. Try Prweb.com or in the UK, Sourcewire.com.

But perhaps the best way of getting media coverage quickly is to use the knowledge, experience and contacts collected by others. Eric Ward’s URLWire.com service is the best.. Through many years of online promotion for clients, Ward has built an impressive opt-in list of over 19,000 journalists, website reviewers and writers.

Monitor and evaluate

At the start of this article, I said that link building was not about the number of links you could get. Likewise monitoring and evaluating is not simply a matter of counting how many links you manage to get. What is really worth measuring is the benefit those links bring your business.

So as a minimum you should measure:

* How much increased traffic comes from links

* Which links bring the most traffic

* How much does your search engine traffic

* How much your sales increase as a result.

A Powerful Web Site Traffic Building Method

Filed under: House Of Traffic — admin at 9:00 pm on Thursday, August 28, 2008

When most people get their website live online they tend to
forget the most important steps to drive traffic to it.
Your site may get a few visitors to start with, but now is
the time to focus on driving more traffic to your site.

Besides having an affiliate program, which should be your
#1 traffic building method, there’s one other traffic
building method you must consider- writing articles. There
are, of course, other methods such as search engines and
directories, banner advertising, links from other sites,
ezine advertising, posting to forums as an expert giving
advice, pop-up, pop-under, exit traffic etc…

I have found that these methods do not yield high enough
results to warrant the time and money spent implementing
them at this point in the process. Posting in forums is
inefficient. Sure, you will get hits, and yes some people
will grow to regard you as an expert but the time spent on
this strategy is rarely proportional to the pay-off.

I hear this advice often but for most businesses this just
isn’t the best way to go. Only bother with this if find you
have free time. Banner advertising, unless highly targeted
or paid on a PPC basis, is often hit or miss.

Pop-up, exit traffic, and other traffic building methods of
the genre are worthless unless you are using it to collect
email addresses by giving away something free. Take into
account the interests and needs that the stream of traffic
has and create a page that will appeal to them so that they
will opt-in to your list. This is the only way that I have
been able to get any money out of this kind of traffic.

Even then, it wasn’t as profitable as other methods and t
his is why I don’t recommend it. Getting links from other
sites isn’t recommended because it usually provides no way
to establish credibility. I recommend concentrating most of
your time on writing articles for several reasons:

  • They can be permanent

  • They can reach large, targeted audiences
  • They have the potential to establish you as an
    expert quickly

None of the other methods allow all of these qualities. To
get maximum sales by writing articles should go without
saying by now that anything you produce should be your
absolute best work. Articles, as your primary method of
building traffic, will be many of your prospects first
experience of you.

This first experience should be absolutely breath-taking.
They should be so impressed by your article, so amazed at
your knowledge, and so curious about what other problems
that you can solve for them, that they will click through
to your site.

Your articles should not be sloppy. They aren’t “just
articles.” Writing of articles should not be taken lightly.
After you have identified an article that pulls more sales
in regards to others you should start spreading it around
the web any way possible. To make sure that it is the
article pulling the sales and not the sales copy at the end
of the article use the same sales copy on all the articles
that you test.

When offering your articles to websites give them the
option to sign up for your affiliate program so that they
can get paid when someone clicks on the link at the bottom
of your article. This will, hopefully, motivate them to use
your article.
